QUEENSLAND STATE GOVERNMENT & BRISBANE CITY COUNCIL LEGISLATION
Has made the Valley Entertainment Precinct what it is today!
1991 The Qld State Government and Brisbane City Council passed legislation and By Laws to create the Valley Malls. The Valley Malls Advisory Committee was established to manage the Brunswick St and Chinatown Malls and surrounding designated area and Brisbane City Council established a Valley Malls management team and office still located at level 1, 277 Brunswick St Mall Fortitude Valley
Bi monthly meeting take place in the Valley under the auspices of the Brisbane City Council with representation from both Queensland State Government, Brisbane City Council and nominated property owner representation and the Valley Chamber of Commerce Incorporated.
2008 The Valley Chamber of Commerce has requested the Queensland State Government and Brisbane City Council establish an official REFERENCE GROUP together with the Valley Chamber of Commerce and their Valley Entertainment Management Plan Subcommittee and VAMP the Valley Alcohol Management Partnership to officially establish the Valley Entertainment Precinct Management and Business Plan. This would incorporate trials and testing of pilot program testing various management practices including harm minimisation, security, safety, health, policing, tourism and State Government, Council and Business working as a partnership to achieve a cohesive management plan.
Brisbane’s Valley Entertainment Precinct is already recognised Australia wide and internationally as a major Entertainment Precinct and tourism attraction for Queensland and we intent to make an even more vibrant and exciting place for people to be day and night.
The Valley Chamber of Commerce Incorporated has fought continually for further recognition of the role the Valley Entertainment Precinct plays in the area. The Night Economy as it is so often referred to provides both a place for partygoers or for people who just like to go out and enjoy themselves, with tens of thousands of people coming to the Valley every weekend and sometimes in one night for special events that are always taking place
VALLEY ENTERTAINMENT MANAGEMENT PLAN
ESTABLISHED NOVEMBER 2006 BY THE VALLEY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The Valley Chamber commenced the first of what are now regular Valley Entertainment Precinct Management Plan meetings.
State Government, Brisbane City Council, Licensees, major retailers, community services and business are all represented and major achievements have been made in addressing many safety issues, night transport but there are more needed
Queensland Rail, Queensland Transport, Qld Police Service, Qld Ambulance Service, Queensland Health, Qld Dept of Communities, Translink, Brisbane City Council, Malls Management, City Planning Urban Renewal, Safety, Traffic and Transport, Signage, Councillors, Pubs and clubs, Taxis Companies and Drivers Association, Chaplain Watch all regularly attend these meeting to network and resolve better management practices.
